I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you've all heard the not quite latest headline in terms of Doctor Who news; the departure of Matt Smith (the Eleventh Doctor) after this years Christmas special. If you haven't, I suppose that's fine.....
But in any case, this news is music to my ears. I don't know about you guys, but in all honesty, I really didn't like Matt Smith's portrayal of The Doctor very much. Sure, through him we got to see more of River Song and monsters like the Weeping Angels, but I couldn't appreciate it.
The loss of David Tennant was far too much for me to handle. And he was the Doctor I learnt to love, not some Social Tomato with long hair and a disturbing penchant for bowties.
Forgive me for sounding bitter, but I never grew uber strong attachments for Amy and Rory. I liked them, and their departure was sad, but they had NOTHING on influential figures like Donna, Martha, Captain Jack Harkness, The Master and of course....... ROSE!!!!!! And Mickey too.
They were all pivotal figures in the adventures of the Tenth Doctor and to this day I love them so much. And when you love someone, whether they're fictional or real, no amount of Scottish accents or recurring deaths or bowties can replace them.
And there was no way in Hell that Clara/Oswin would EVER be some sort of compensation equal to Amy and Rory and River. Definitely not River.
So after Season 5 of Doctor Who, I really don't know why the BBC still bothers. They should have continued on with David Tennant and have left it at that. He made every companion lovable. He made Converse 100000000 times more amazing. He went on great adventures. He met amazing people. And he could make 3D glasses or any crazy accessory great without mentioning it 100 times per episode. He had the best soundtrack songs. He had the best expressions, best monsters...... And I will admit; he was the best looking.
Despite my resentments towards Smith's incarnation of The Doctor, I'm eager to see who'll replace him. For the sake of the franchise, I hope that whoever is next to take control of the TARDIS is played by someone brilliant. And that hopefully, in the episodes to come, the script writing of Steven Moffat won't mess up what could be a good future for the 1000+ year old Time Lord.
Seriously, I am of the opinion that after 'Forest of the Dead', the writing skills of Steven Moffat declined faster than you can say "Allons-y!".
I'm done ranting. And I apologise for this massive outburst of gosh-knows-what. I'm tired at the moment after finishing performing in my school musical and celebrating the departure of Matt Smith. And to make things more fun, I've got assignments due this week, homework to catch up on and tests to prepare for.
Only problem is, I'm procrastinating... Which I shouldn't be doing, but it's SUNDAY on a LONG WEEKEND!!! Avoiding working on important stuff on long weekends is an inevitable part of life.
I'm rambling. Enjoy your week ahead, work smart and be as awesome as physically possible!!!
