Born too late?? (And why I hate hipsters)

Aloha guys,

Over the last couple of months, you might have noticed people using words such as 'cray cray', 'swag' and the excruciatingly annoying, 'yolo'.
In other words, hipsters are unfortunately taking over society and pop culture.

You might be wondering why I think it's unfortunate that hipsters are dominating society. But if you aren't, here are my valid reasons why I cannot stand them;
1. Who needs oxygen/intelligence/money when you have swag?: I hate statements like these because they are rife with inaccuracy. You can't breathe swag to live, swag can't buy you anything and swag will never be a legitimate excuse for stupidity, it will just prove how much of it you have.

2. One Direction will be/are bigger than The Beatles and The Rolling Stones: Wrong, wrong, wrong. As I've said before in one of my blog posts, I don't care about One Direction or their music, but if you ever claim that One Direction will be bigger/is better than The Beatles or The Rolling Stones, I will have to feel pity for you. Because all 1D have really got going for them is their teenage girl fans and "hot" faces. People won't be singing "One Thing" in 20 years, that song will be 'ancient history'. But it's been at least 30 years since The Beatles split up, and they still continue to sell albums daily. Loads in fact. Even I sing their songs, and at my age I should be nodding my head to dubstep remixes.

3. Not right for all ages: By that I meant that its not right that kids are even getting in on these things. I see 12 year old girls posing for selfies and I just about die. I see more 12 year olds with more relationship issues than Taylor Swift. At that age I was camera shy and boyfriends were just the celebrities on my posters. So why the sudden increase in hipster 12 year olds??

4. Y du we neeed 2 type lyk dis????: I know we live in an age where we have auto correct, but that's no excuse for bad spelling and grammar. Another issue is the overuse of emoticons. To quote "Does my head look big in this?" by Randa Abdel-Fattah: "I hate it when people overuse those smiley faces. There are plenty of words in the thesaurus which express happiness. Expand your vocabulary and stop with the bad art." Truer words have never been spoken.

I'm sure you all have your own reasons to not like hipsters, but those are my main ones. And it's not just hipsters that annoy me. It's today's pop culture. This is an age where going to museums is dorky and to listen to music that isn't from this last decade is odd. At times I often wonder if I was born in the wrong era of history. If I should have been born in a different historical era. But the idea of me in a Victorian dress and bonnet scares me, so I forget it. But you can't help but wonder.

So until more people realise that swag is actually an acronym for "Secretly we are gay", I shall continue to pray that society changes for the better. If you agree with my social views, have no swag at all or believe you only die once, let me know in the comments below.
