Blue Skies Again... And Jesus

Hello guys,

I've been in a noticeably perkier mood recently, and it's all thanks to a bunch of factors:
  • Glorious stormy weather has dominated the skies
  • The new Green Day album, Dos!, is a musical masterpiece
  • I just got replacement Converse high-tops
  • I've fallen in love with Twinings chai tea.
  • Saw Breaking Dawn Part 2, it was satisfactory to say the least. For a Twilight movie, it was quite good.
  • I've increased the length of time that will be spent on the horoscope experiment
It's a well known fact that last week proved to be incredibly shocking for me. However, things are beginning to look bright again, and I have 3 things to thank for that:
  1. My friends: These are the people that have never let me down. I've had my doubts at times, but in the end, they have helped me through many problems, given first rate advice and when I'm down, they are my anti-depressants.
  2. Green Day: It's Well Known Fact #2 that I love Green Day more than my own family. And it's true; hymns like American Idiot are quite lovable. But when you're a teenager who's supposed to hate everyone and themselves, the songs of Green Day don't give you further incentive to do so, instead, they encourage you to shut up and listen to the music; forget your sorrows. And so many of their songs are cures to sadness, take it from me.
  3. (Atheists don't roll your eyes...)Jesus: This will require an explanation:
All my life, I've gone to religious schools: Lutheran, Catholic and most recently, Christian. So Jesus has been kind of inescapable. Anyway, when you go to religious schools, you tend to run into the religious students, and at my recent school, the Christian one, there is a particular student who loves Jesus. So much in fact, that he wears a keychain with WWJD written all over it (What Would Jesus Do). And recently, in situations, it has got me thinking "If Jesus lost his size 4 Converse high-tops, what would he do?"

And even though he's got the power of God on his side as well as an epic beard, we can still do what he would. We may not be able to walk on water or recite a whole parable, but we can do the right thing, the just thing, the thing Jesus would do if he was in your size 4 Converse high-tops.

Even though I'm still on a gallant quest for spirituality, if anything goes wrong, I pause and think of what Jesus would do. So far, it's worked out well. In fact, just yesterday as I was drafting this post, a massive hailstorm affected my suburb (and my house was not spared). I was scared, for my bedroom window had smashed open;strewing glass all over my floor and bed, some hailstones were as big as golf balls, the ground was covered in ice and it looked like a hurricane of snow had recently passed.
Initially I was freaking out, I honestly thought I was going to die. But I kept calm and thought of what Jesus would do: He'd say a parable, stop the storm and make sure everyone was OK. And prepare an evacuation kit. While I don't know any good parable and while I can't influence the elements, I still went around my street, checking to see the extent of the damage and to see if my neighbours were fine. Then I went home, and like a good neurotic person, I assembled an evacuation kit.

That has been my dramatic list of recent events. If you have any thoughts on religion, evacuation kits or Green Day, let me know in the comments below.
